Ok, so you should know the dates and what this is all about!

So, this is just to give you all a bit more info on the adventures we're aiming to have, what you need to wear/bring, and what it's going to cost you!

Saturday morning we'll aim to canoe first (hopefully not getting too wet) and then drive to the venue for the gorge walk. Once we're all sorted with kit and payment, I'll put a Google map pin on the WhatsApp group so you know where to meet. We should meet at 1000 which will give us a few hours on the water and then we can break for lunch (there's a sandwich bar close by, or a Spar/Subway a 5 minute drive away). Then we can head over to the gorge in convoy, and from there back to the accomodtaion in Betws y Coed.

On Sunday the start time will depend on when people have to get back home and how sore heads are! There's a bit of a steep walk up to the mine so be careful not to see your breakfast twice! Once we've finished in the mine we can head back to town for tea and cake or something more substantial before you get on your way.

For the canoeing and gorge walking you need:
Towel
Bag for wet kit (black bin bag will do)
Shoes that can get wet - walking boots are best but you can wear trainers as long as they do up properly - no sandals or flip flops. Wetsuit boots/water shoes are ok for canoeing but not in the gorge as you need more support.
A pair of shorts to wear over your wetsuit - stops you ripping the wetsuit to bits on the rocks
Swim suit/trunks to wear under the wetsuit
A layer for under the wetsuit (it is Febraury in North Wales). Thermal underwear like Underarmour is best or a Merino base layer. Cotton T shirts are a bad idea.

I'll provide you with:
A wetsuit (they come in S,, M, L, XL) to keep you warm - they are meant to be tight, but we still need a good fit. You'll probably be the first people to wear them as I'm refreshing my stock ready for next season and you'll be the first group. It is really importnat you let me know the size you need in the booking form - I will not be bringing spares!
A buoyancy aid
A helmet
Boats, paddles and anything else you need

For the mine exploring you will need:
Wellies (or boots that you can get wet). You could wear walking boots for both days, but trainers aren't so good in the mine as there are sharp rocks and bits of metal that you might not see in the dark. But that's up to you.
A waterproof jacket - but it will get really muddy
Waterproof trousers - optional but helpful to keep you warm underground and keep the water off.
A head torch if you have one - but don't worry if not, I have some you can use
Gloves - fleece/woollen gloves are ok - gardening gloves are better - to give you some dexterity but still protoect your hands from the sharp rocks. You'll still need to be able to operate a karabiner clip with them on to keep you attached to the rope at certain points.
Under your jacket and waterproofs you'll need at least one warm layer as its pretty chilly underground, and trackies or combats are best on your legs (just not jeans).

I'll provide you with:
Helmets
Harnesses
Torches for those that don't have their own

If you have any questions about what to wear please ask beofre we get going- failure to wear/bring the right equipment may pose a less obvious risk to your own (and the group's) safety. As such we reserve the right to refuse your particiapation on these grounds. In this event you will not be granted a refund.
Please ask for full terms and conditions when booking if you would like to read them.
